Support Installation:  Following the installation of the CCC software, the most common problem experienced by users is not being able to run and operate the software.  If you find yourself in this situation, then please read on.  The problem occurs after the software has been successfully installed, and an attempt is made to use it.  If after pressing the Enter button found in the CCC login, the following 'Run-time error '1004'' message (illustrated below) appears:

Then the most likely reason you are getting this message is that you have an older version of Microsoft® Excel® such as 97 or 2000.  You can check which version you have by loading Excel®, followed by opening the Help menu found in the main menu bar, followed by selecting 'About Microsoft Excel'.  There, at the top of the popoup that appears, will be the version of Excel® you are running.  If it is Excel® 2000 or an older version, you will need to upgrade to Excel® XP, 2002 or 2003.  Only these newer versions of Excel® can open and operate the CCC software, since only they can recognize the much stronger encryption that is used.  Please click on the Software hyperlink above, and then Requirements.  There you will find a listing of the requirements and additional information for running the CCC software.  Note that Excel 2007 will also NOT support the CCC software as it has had significant structural changes.
Upgrades to Microsoft's Excel® can be obtained in a variety of ways.  Excel® can be purchased as a standalone upgrade, as part of Microsoft's Office suite, or as OEM software.  OEM software is an attractive option since its available at an even bigger discount than the upgrade versions are typically sold at.  This added discount is made possible since all you will be getting is a CD containing the software, and a user activation key that allows you to use it.  No manuals are provided as all the technical information you need is available through the Help menu.  Also, free installation support from Microsoft® is not provided, but few (if any) users will need this support.  However, if installation support is needed, Microsoft® will provide it for a fee.
If you choose to look for OEM suppliers, they can be found using an internet search engine such as www.google.com.  Reputable suppliers will provide you with an authentic Microsoft® CD, along with an unused Microsoft® supplied user activation key.
Other Problems:
1.  If you have a non-English version of Excel XP, Excel 2002, or Excel 2003, and the CCC software does not load, you will have to obtain an English version.  You will likely get a message from the CCC software informing you to re-install the software, since something did not work properly.  Of course, re-installing the CCC software will not resolve this problem.  Again, the only way you will be able to get the CCC software to run is by obtaining an English version of the Excel software.
2.  If you do not have any version of Excel installed on your computer, expect to get the “Run-time error ‘429’" message.  If you get this message, confirm whether or not any version of Excel is even on your computer.  If not, you will have to obtain a proper version of Excel in order to load and use the CCC software.
3.  If you have a proper version of Excel, but you get an odd error such as the “Run-time error ‘1004’” message, or the method of encryption is not recognized, and so on.  This can happen after installing a Service Pack upgrade (such as SP2, SP3, etc.) for Excel (or for a Microsoft® Office package).  To resolve this problem, re-install Excel (or Microsoft® Office).  The Service Pack upgrade will remain intact.
